Since 1990, DEİK/Turkey-Morocco Business Council has been cooperating with La Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (the General Confederation of Moroccan Industries). The Business Council organises business meetings in order to boost the trade volume between Turkey and Morocco; nevertheless, they lobbied together for Free Trade Treaty that was activated in 2006. Currently Morocco is Turkey’s 5th most important trading partner on the African continent. The Council’s main purpose is to further improve trade and investment relations. Sectors that hold the greatest potential for development are: textiles and garments, the automotive industry, agriculture, tourism and construction.
