
Caner Çolak was born in 1983 in Ankara. He graduated with honors from the Department of Economics at Hacettepe University in 2006. Following his undergraduate studies, he began his professional career in 2007 as an Assistant Treasury Specialist at VakıfBank, and in the same year, he continued as an Assistant Inspector at Halkbank.
Between 2009 and 2016, he held significant positions in various public institutions that played a pivotal role in shaping Türkiye’s economic development and foreign trade policy. During this period, he served respectively as a Financial Analysis and Intelligence Specialist at the Development Bank of Türkiye, a Foreign Trade Specialist and Ministerial Advisor at the Ministry of Economy, and later as Department Head at the Prime Ministry Privatization Administration.
From 2016 to 2018, he served as Deputy Secretary General of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), playing an active role in developing Türkiye’s export vision. In 2018, he was appointed as Secretary General of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), a position he continues to hold.
Blending his academic background with professional experience, Çolak completed his master’s degree at Hacettepe University’s Institute of Social Sciences in the Department of Economics. In his thesis, titled “The Role and Function of Commercial and Economic Intelligence and Diplomacy in the Planning and Implementation of Foreign Economic and Trade Relations,” he emphasized the importance of knowledge-based decision-making processes and diplomatic mechanisms in external economic relations.
With in-depth expertise in international economics, foreign trade policies, economic diplomacy, and public strategies, Çolak effectively utilizes his extensive experience in the business world to strengthen Türkiye’s global economic relations.
