DEİK President Nail Olpak released a written statement on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
As DEİK, we once again strongly condemn this heinous attempt, which was thwarted thanks to the determined stance of our nation, the resilience of our state institutions, and the sacrifices of all our citizens who stood up for democracy. We commemorate our martyrs with mercy and express our gratitude and appreciation to our veterans.
On the night of July 15, not only our democracy but also our economic stability, production strength, and our country's future were targeted. However, thanks to the unity and solidarity of our nation, Türkiye overcame this major threat and demonstrated its determination to further strengthen its economy, institutions, and international reputation.
Over the past ten years, the Turkish business community has maintained its commitment to production, exports, employment, and investment without interruption, contributing to our country's development goals and once again demonstrating that economic independence is an integral part of national sovereignty. During this period, our per capita income increased from approximately USD 10,900 to around USD 18,000. The share of our exports in global trade rose to 1.07 percent. While deepening its integration with the global economy, our country has demonstrated its resilience and capacity to adapt to changing global conditions despite the geopolitical and financial risks it has faced in recent years.
Today, in this new era shaped by changing global balances and geopolitical dynamics, Türkiye's strong economy, dynamic private sector, and entrepreneurial ecosystem are among our greatest advantages. The comprehensive economic reform package announced to the public by our President, aimed at strengthening our production, exports, high value-added services, and capacity to attract international investment, and including tax incentives, investment facilitation measures, and financial regulations, will make a significant contribution to utilizing these advantages more effectively.
Moreover, alongside the traditional competitive factors of price, quality, and speed, a new factor — "Trust-Based Competition" — has recently been added for our companies. With its strong production infrastructure, strategic location, and young and qualified workforce, Türkiye stands out as a reliable partner and a stable investment destination for international investors. This provides our country with a significant competitive advantage in the global marketplace.
On the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, we respectfully salute our noble nation, which stood up for our democracy and national will, and once again emphasize our determination to continue producing, investing, and working toward a stronger, more prosperous, and more resilient Türkiye in line with our country's goals.
As DEİK, through our 153 Business Councils, we will continue, with the same determination and enthusiasm as we have for the past 41 years, to contribute to our country's economic development through our Business diplomacy activities around the world and to further strengthen Türkiye's position in global trade."
