Halit Acar completed his undergraduate studies in Economics and Management at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. Following his graduation, he began his professional career as General Manager of Universal Acarsan.
He assumed responsibility for managing Acarsan Holding's operations in Iraq and, during this period, personally directed and operationalized all phases of five separate education and research hospital projects located in Hilla, Karbala, Nasiriyah, Maysan, and Basra. With a total bed capacity of 3,000 and a combined construction area of 400,000 square meters, these projects included project development, construction, infrastructure, post-construction technical equipment procurement, implementation, and all remaining operational processes, ultimately bringing them into service under the umbrella of Acarsan Holding. During the same period, he also carried out similar end-to-end management processes for three oncology hospitals located in Ramadi, Hilla, and Basra.
In addition to the restoration of the Ibn Sina Hospital in Baghdad, he also added to the Holding two general hospitals located in Dujail and Tuz Khurmatu, with a total capacity of 200 beds and a combined construction area of 60,000 square meters, as well as an education and research hospital in Kut with 400 beds and a construction area of 82,000 square meters. He currently continues to oversee the management of a total of 14 healthcare complexes under the Holding, of which 9 have been completed and 5 remain under construction.
During this same period, in addition to serving as General Manager of Universal Acarsan, he led the team behind ICONOVA, one of the most distinguished construction projects in Türkiye and the Middle East. Built on an area of 255,000 square meters, this mixed-use development features luxury residences and boulevard retail outlets across 7 towers reaching heights of up to 162 meters. He coordinated all construction processes of the project and managed areas including technical equipment, mobilization, and material procurement.
As of 2020, in addition to his other responsibilities, he has also been involved in the management processes of the Geothermal Power Plant and Solar Power Plant Project, both subsidiaries of Acarsan Holding. Alongside his role as General Manager of Universal Acarsan, he also serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of Acarsan Holding, where he oversees the Holding's investments in the construction, healthcare, and energy sectors.
Halit Acar was elected Chairman of the DEİK/Türkiye-Iraq Business Council at the DEİK Business Councils General Assembly held on 15 January 2022, having previously served as an Executive Board Member and Vice Chairman of the same Council. Simultaneously, he was also elected Vice Coordinator Chairman of the DEİK Middle East and Gulf Region. During his chairmanship, the Business Council significantly increased the scale and impact of its activities. Through domestic and international engagements, high-level business forums, delegation visits, exclusive meetings, and more, the Council received the "Media Visibility" award in his first year, the "Outstanding Performance" award in his second year, the "Networking" award in his third year, and again the "Media Visibility" award in his fourth year of office.
At the DEİK Business Councils General Assembly held on 20 January 2022, he was re-elected as Chairman of the DEİK/Türkiye-Iraq Business Council and as Vice Coordinator Chairman of the DEİK Middle East and Gulf Region. At the DEİK Business Councils General Assembly held on 17 January 2026, he was elected for a third term as Chairman of the DEİK/Türkiye-Iraq Business Council and as Coordinator Chairman of the Middle East and Gulf Business Councils, positions he continues to hold. On 25 May 2024, he was also elected as a Member of the DEİK Board of Directors, a role he still maintains.
Between 2017 and 2023, Acar served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Gaziantep Football Club. He currently continues his service as a Member of the Board of Directors of Gaziantep Polis Gücü Hockey Club and as a Member of the Board of Trustees of GAGEV (Gaziantep Development Foundation).
Halit Acar is married with two children. He speaks English at a native level and Arabic at an intermediate level.
