Halit Acar was born in Cizre in 1987 and graduated from the University of Sussex in England with degrees in Economics and Management in 2011. Since 2012, he has served as the General Manager of Universal Acarsan, coordinating and managing all operations of Acarsan Holding in Iraq. During this period, he personally oversaw the development, construction, infrastructure, post-construction technical equipment supply, implementation, and all other processes of five separate educational and research hospitals located in Hilla, Kerbela, Nasiriye, Missan, and Basra. These projects have a total capacity of 3,000 beds and 400,000 m² of construction area and were brought to operational status under Acarsan Holding. Additionally, he managed similar projects for three oncology hospitals in Ramadi, Hilla, and Basra. He also oversaw the management of two general hospitals with a total capacity of 200 beds and 60,000 m² of construction area located in Düceil and Tuzhurmatu, as well as an educational research hospital in Kut with a capacity of 400 beds and 82,000 m² of construction area. In total, he currently manages 11 healthcare complexes, eight of which are completed and three under construction.
Between 2015 and 2020, in addition to his role as General Manager of Universal Acarsan, he led the team that brought to life ICONOVA, one of the most prestigious construction projects in Turkey and the Middle East. This project, which covers an area of 255,000 m², includes luxury residential towers and street-level retail stores, with seven towers reaching up to 162 meters in height. He coordinated all construction processes and managed areas such as technical equipment, mobilization, and material procurement.
As of 2020, in addition to his other responsibilities, he is involved in the management processes of Greeneco, a geothermal and solar energy plant project affiliated with Acarsan Holding. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Acarsan Holding and oversees all investments in the construction, health, and energy sectors of the holding.
Halit Acar was elected as the Chairman of the DEIK/Turkey-Iraq Business Council on January 15, 2022, during the DEIK Business Councils General Assembly, where he had previously served as a Board Member and Vice Chairman. He was also elected as the Deputy Coordinator Chairman of DEIK/Middle East and Gulf Region simultaneously. In the first year of his tenure, he received the 'Media Visibility' award, and in the second year, the 'Outstanding Performance' award. He was re-elected as the Chairman of the DEIK/Turkey-Iraq Business Council and Deputy Coordinator Chairman of DEIK/Middle East and Gulf Region at the DEIK Business Councils General Assembly held on January 20, 2022, and continues to hold these positions. On May 25, 2024, he was elected as a member of the DEIK Board of Directors and continues to serve in this role.
Between 2017 and 2023, Acar served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Gaziantep Football Club and continues to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Gaziantep Police Force Hockey Club and the GAGEV (Gaziantep Development Foundation). Halit Acar is married with two children and speaks English at a native level and intermediate Arabic.
