The predecessor of today’s Council is the DEİK/Türkiye-USSR Business Council established on 21 February 1988. This enterprise was supported not only by business circles but also by the state. Representatives of the Business Council were included in government-level visits and official programmes. After the breakup of the Soviet Union, the Council was re-established as DEİK/Türkiye-Russia Business Council.
The traditional Annual Joint Business Council Meeting brings together leading businesspeople and officials from both countries. In cooperation with various regional governments in Russia, the Council also promotes those regions in Türkiye. The main area of interest is the construction sector; but the Council also organises seminars on the legal framework governing business in Russia, on energy, tourism and other topics. Aware of the importance of bilateral economic ties, the Business Council will continue to work for the advancement of trade relations
